Hometown Hero Jared Carter Wins RBC Brewin Dolphin Excalibur Cup 2026

Jared Carter took the sword in this year's edition of the Excalibur Cup, part of the PSA Squash Tour Challenger circuit. He outlasted the young challenger Dylan Roberts to take the title and have his name etched in the sword's history.

The Final

Carter took the first game in a thrilling and tight opener, 11-9. Roberts hit back in the second as Carter made a few errors, 11-6. The match then see-sawed, with Carter taking the third 11-4 and Roberts the fourth 11-5, setting up a grandstand finish for the excited crowd at Winchester Racquets and Fitness.

Carter came out fired up in the fifth, taking the ball early with aggression. Roberts tried to hang in, but as Carter increased the pace he could not stop the local player from winning his home event in front of his family and friends.

A gruelling 84-minute match ended and Jared Carter could finally hold the sword aloft, ending a superb weekend of squash with a fine match.

Result: Jared Carter beat Dylan Roberts 3-2 (11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 5-11, 11-5) in 84 minutes.

Grade Event Results

A Grade — Shadow Lilco defeated Noah Riley in a close contest with plenty of flair and grit, winning 3-0 (12-10, 11-4, 17-15).

B Grade — Jack Mascall took on Oscar Fry in this final. Mascall had a gruelling semi-final, winning 11-9 in the fifth. He came out firing to win the first two games, 11-7 and 11-8, before Fry responded with calm and clinical squash, 11-3 and 11-3, to level the match. In the fifth Mascall dug deep, winning 11-8 in a classic finish.

C Grade — Club legend Russell Brooks took on unseeded Daniel Warner. Warner started well, 11-7, before Brooks took the next, 11-6. The next two were then tight, 12-10 either way. Warner held his nerve to take the win, 11-9.

D Grade — Finlay Bye played Jordan Richardson after both had defeated the top seeds in the semis. Bye won the first game 16-14 and the next 15-8 to secure victory.
