Hometown Hero Jared Carter Wins RBC Brewin Dolphin Excalibur Cup 2026

Jared Carter took the sword in this year's edition of the Excalibur Cup, part of the PSA Squash Tour Challenger circuit. He outlasted young gun Dylan Roberts to get the title and his name etched in the sword's history.

The Final

Carter took the first game in a thrilling and tight opener, 11-9. Roberts hit back in the 2nd as Carter made a few errors, 11-6. The match then seesawed either way, 11-4 to Carter and 11-5 to Roberts, setting up a grandstand finish for the excited crowd at Winchester Racquets and Fitness.

Carter came out pumped and fired up in the 5th, taking the ball early with aggression. Roberts tried to hang in there but as Carter increased the pace he couldn't stop the local lad from winning his home event in front of his family and friends.

A gruelling 84-minute match ended and Jared Carter could finally hold the sword aloft — a fantastic match to end a great weekend of squash!

Result: Jared Carter beat Dylan Roberts 3-2 (11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 5-11, 11-5) in 84 minutes.

Grade Event Results

A Grade — Shadow Lilco took Noah Riley down in a tight contest which had plenty of flair and grit, winning 3-0 but tight: 12-10, 11-4, 17-15.

B Grade — Jack Mascall took on Oscar Fry in this final. Mascall had a brutal semi-final, winning 11-9 in the 5th. He came out firing, 11-7, 11-8, before Fry responded with some calm and clinical squash, 11-3, 11-3, to put Mascall on the ropes. In the 5th Mascall went to the well and dug deep, somehow winning 11-8 in a classic finish.

C Grade — Club legend Russell Brooks took on unseeded Daniel Warner. Warner started well, 11-7, before Brooks took the next, 11-6. The next two were then tight, 12-10 either way. Warner held his nerve to take the win, 11-9.

D Grade — Finlay Bye played Jordan Richardson after both had defeated the top seeds in the semis. Bye grabbed the 1st game 16-14 and the next 15-8 to secure victory.
